Rantin: With a little help from some new friends (The State)
Brian Denny welcomed the long line of well wishers as they made their way into
his Northeast Richland home Friday afternoon.
The guest list included contractors, home builders, plumbers, electricians and
others from the Fishers Wood neighborhood most of whom Denny didnt know a
year ago.
But following a spinal cord injury in March that left him paralyzed from the
shoulders down, the Columbia man is finding that new friends, along with
familiar ones, can be some of the best around.
Its very humbling that people have come forward, Denny said before several
dozen people joined him and his family for a ribbon cutting for their new
home.
The house was made possible by The Home Builders Association of Greater
Columbia Charitable Foundation, which teamed with Stock Building Supply,
association members and other community professionals to build the four-
bedroom, 2,800-square-foot home.
