How to install a amp into a 07 chevy cobalt?
Im installing a system on a 07 chevy cobalt, but the owner wants to keep their factory radio, so I don't want to cut into my factory wire harness, Im trying to find a like a reverse harness or a kind of coupler/extension harness out there for this type of situation.
First of all is the amp going to subs or are you trying to amp the speakers. If your running a subwoofer amplifier what would be the best way to run an audio output is a LOC or line output converter. You would simply splice into your rear 6x9 speakers then run wires from them into the LOC. The LOC will then turn your speaker output into some RCA outputs that way you could run your amplifier. If your going to amp all your speakers that car has 4 from the factory unless you got the pioneer option (most people didn't) 6x9's in the rear deck and i think it was 6 3/4 inch speakers in the doors. In That case you would run the LOC or in some cases two LOC's the LOC i have would power a 4 channel if i still used it. But a lot of them would only run a 2 channel or a subwoofer amp. You would run the LOC/s from the back of the headunit then run RCA wires from there to your amplifiers. Also theres the metra harnesses and scosche harnesses Ive seen ones that plug in to use the stock harness on an after-market stereo but also have RCA outputs however i'm not sure if there is one for that car. Hope this helps
