Of course this is up to your consideration, although most people now choose the LCD monitor. LCD monitors are more lightweight and it use not too much place on your computer table. In addition, the power used by the LCD monitor is lower than CRT monitor.

Are the cheaper LCD monitors good or is it poor for hooking up a Xbox 360 to?
I need one for true 1080 HD with my Xbox 360
Cheap LCDs suck, they are pretty much all TN panels which can't even display true 8 bit colour, look into an IPS panel for a good quality LCD monitor (www.tftcentral.com is a good place for reviews and information regarding advantages and disadvantages of panel types[you really should read those before you consider anything])
PS - no xbox game will do True HD they have to draw the image at a low resolution and then do some tech wizardry to increase the resolution from that data, which loses a lot of detail in doing so (you can acheive a similar effect by decreasing your resolution to something like 800X600 and then zoom out until the text size is normal sized on a website)
AOC e1649Fwu Portable USB Monitor: A good match for your MacBook (TUAW)
As many TUAW readers know, I have a serious love affair with my 11" MacBook
Air. If there's one issue that I have with it, it's that sometimes that screen
seems just a little too small. Now AOC has released the e1649Fwu 16" Portable
USB Monitor ($139.99) that is perfect for those situations where you want a
second monitor for your MacBook Air or any other Mac.
### Design
For work with a laptop, the e1649Fwu is perfect. There's no power supply
required; you just plug the monitor into a USB port, and you're ready to go.
The screen measures 16" diagonally, and has a foldout stand that props the
monitor up at a slight angle. The monitor can only be used in landscape (wide)
mode on the Mac and has a fixed resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.
What would you use a portable monitor for? It's perfect for giving
presentations to a small group seated at a conference table, and it's a great
way to get additional screen real estate with any Mac. While it's larger than
the 11" MacBook Air I tested it with, the e1649Fwu weighs 2.3 lbs and ...
