Garmin Nuvi 3790T Review - Say Good Bye To Traffic Jam Now!
If you have been looking for a portable GPS that incorporates form, function and fashion you were out of luck. Most standalone navigators have kept the same form factor for the last few years. They all looked the same, so it did not matter which one you purchased. They were all big, and clunky. It was then. Today there is increased competition in the smartphone space and everyone seems to be getting into GPS - including Google. How will you compete with the likes of Apple, RIM or even Google? You out do them in form, function and fashion.
Garmin nuvi 3700 series fits the bill.
The newest line of portable GPS navigators from Garmin, the 3700 series sports sleek lines and is super-slim at only 9mm "thick". The 3700 series of navigators - there are three: nuvi 3750, nuvi 3760T and the top of the line, 3790T. Each features a 4.3 inch multi-touch glass display with enhanced software featuring nuRoute technology with traffic trends and myTrends. You will also find voice-activated navigation and if you purchase the 3790T you can also take advantage of 3-D building and terrain view. Other outstanding features are lane assist with junction view, hands-free calling compatibility with built-in Bluetooth and subscription-free traffic alerts.
The display is just amazing, a little glossy - but we can live with that. The 4.3 inch display sports WVGA (800x480) res. We already mentioned the super-slim form factor of the navigator, at 9mm thin it's small enough to put into your shirt pocket, or purse. Try that with the older navigators.
Along with fashion and comes function. The interface has been somewhat overhauled and where you will see the biggest difference is the speed in which the gorgeous 2D and 3D maps load. Street names, and towns are also auto-populated at blazing speed. The other feature that we were impressed with is that you can use it in vehicle mode, and pedestrian mode. So if you are in a new city and are getting around on foot, bus, train or metro the nuvi will help you navigate.
On Amazon the 3790T is #16 and has 44 reviews giving the unit 4 stars. With comments like "The size and physical design of this beauty is amazing.", "This is the iPhone 4 of the GPS world." and "Nothing has come close to the beauty of the 3790.", Garmin has become famous with the 3790T and indeed with the entire line of 3700 series portable GPS units.
In conclusion, Nuvi 3790 is very impressive with all the enhancements to the software and the new form-factor it is a winner. If you already have a newer PND (personal navigation device) you may not want to buy this right now, or if your smartphone has GPS built into it (which smartphones don't have GPS?) then you also may not want yet another device. However if you have an older portable GPS unit and want something sleek, then the new Garmin nuvi 3700 series of portable GPS units is for you.

What should i do? Buy a new iPod touch and a cheap phone, or an expensive smartphone?
I really don't know what to do. I have been saving for a new iPod touch 32 GB 4th generation, but then my phone broke. I was looking around the web and found android phones. They look cool, can play some apps like iPod, is a phone and can watch films. Now they are fantastic but there expensive. I know apps will look better on the new retina display of the iPod, but the android phones are really good also. I only have 200 euro now and i can have a budget of about 300 euro (Price of iPod).
In the android phone i want:
WIFI
BIG HI RES TOUCH SCREEN
CAN PLAY APPS LIKE iPOD
PRE-PAY
WILL WORK ON IRISH NETWORK (O2, VODAFONE)
Now people are going to say the HTC Wildfire, but that cant play apps like iPod (im talkin about apps like asphalt)
Please give me advice, and an android model phone if possible! Thanks in advance!
If you look i said "In the android phone i want: PRE-PAY (Not bill pay) ... please know what you are saying is actually answering the question before!!
buy the ipod and cheap phone because with a smart phone, you have to pay the data plan and that is really expensive especially in the long run. Just think how much you'll be paying a year for data plan. So the ipod touch with a phone is way better. No data plan=success
Rumor: Apple Will Debut *Two* iPads Next Month, Retina Displays In Tow (crunchgear?)
The Apple rumor mill never takes a break, even during the holidays. In the
past months we've heard two very specific allegations concerning the iPad --
both out of Digitimes -- focused on a smaller sized Apple tab at 8.75 inches
and a release date of early 2012. As Devin explained so well, the notion of a
smaller iPad out of Cupertino is a bit hard to believe. It would mean that
Apple is going back on its word that the iPad is the right size. Today
Digitimes somewhat confirms this with a new rumor: Instead of the 7.85-inch
iPad, Apple will supposedly be bringing two new Retina-style iPads to the
market to fill in the mid- and high-end market segments, while the current
iPad 2 hangs around to take on the Kindle Fire.
