Selecting A Home Theater Projector
A home theater projector is an add-on to a home theater. It is mostly available in two resolution categories of 1080 pixels and 720 pixels. The main point of a home theater projector is to project videos. However , it is also beneficial for projecting pictures and presentations also.
When you plan to choose a home theater projector, you have 2 options based mostly on the type of technology used to make that particular model. The first option is the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). If you select this type of projector, the photographs displayed will have vibrant colors and the pictures can be viewed with sharpened and detailed clarity. Light passes thru three small panels which results in the formation of bright images that are excellent for dimly lit environments. A substitute for the LCD projector is the DLP projector. This projector is light weight compared against its LCD counterpart because only 1 chip is used. This projector provides a superb feature of integrating beautiful video playback with high contrast ratios, and little pixilation.
It is a good idea to look at the specs of different home theater projectors to help decide on the right projector for your use. Some aspects that are worth considering or comparing among various projectors include resolution, image brightness, contrast proportion, and other specific features like theatre mode, zoom and picture-in picture. The weight of the projector is another criteria that can be given due consideration. All these parameters must be assessed based on where you plan to place your home theater projector.
If you choose a projector with a high resolution, the high resolution signals make a contribution towards producing unbroken signals. The in-built scaler will convert inbound signals to match the local resolution. A home theater projector with a contrast ratio that's as high as possible displays deeper blacks and subtle colours in more detail. Contrast ratio is an important thing to consider for home theater projectors. It's a good idea to select a home theater projector that comes with multiple lamp settings. These settings allow you to reduce the brightness and increase the contrast ratio to provide optimum viewing experience in a dark room. Image brightness or light output of home theater projectors often vary widely from 700 to 2500 lumens. Go for a high brightness rating. This can guarantee a great viewing experience in the event of ambient room light or if the projector is wall mounted.
Select a projector that has a good quality remote that is ergonomically designed. It is a smart idea to choose a home theater projector that's got a remote with all the features that you want to have in it. Another deciding factor governing the choice of a home theater projector is whether you will be mounting the projector, installing it or using it as a tabletop machine.

What is the difference between a buisness projector and a home theater projector ?
First, recognize that there is no formal distinction and in many cases an HT projector could be used for business use, or a business projector used for HT purposes.
It's more a question of strengths and weaknesses. HT projectors put less emphasis on portability (most business projectors are well under 7-8 lbs (3 kg) while HT projectors are often over 10 and sometimes over 20 lbs (9kg)) and more on video processing (better scalers, etc).
Business projectors tend to be brighter (>1500 lumens vs <1500 lumens), more likely to be 4:3 aspect ratio rather than 16:9 (almost universal for HT projectors), have lower contrast ratios (<1000:1), may have noisier fans (>28dB vs <28dB for HT use). HT projectors put greater emphasis on contrast ratio, video processing, and colour accuracy, and connectivity (e.g. 2 HDMI, component, VGA, composite and S-video). In fact until recently many business projectors didn't have digital inputs at all (emphasis was on computer connectivity).
I use a projector for HT use that is portable and intended mainly for business use but also has very good colour accuracy and video processing capability (Canon SX60) and is therefore really a multipurpose projector.
